It has been finally confirmed that the examinations of Rivers state polytechnic scheduled to hold on Monday 22nd April and Tuesday 23rd April have been postponed. The reasons for the postponement are not clear as the notice pasted on the school's notice board and at the security gates does not specify any reasons. It only states that management has approved that the examinations scheduled for the above dates be postponed till the end of the examinations.
The school started its first semester examinations for the 2012/2013 academic session on Monday 8th April 2013. Adopting its pattern of one day for management and next day for engineering, both management and engineering students of the institution have written several papers and many students have been counting days to the end of the examination. Many people have already calculated the day they will travel out of the school and relax at home to eat well cooked meals normally called "mama thank you"
Although the reasons for the postponement were not given by school management, success secrets has it on good authority that the postponement may not be unconnected with a two day warning strike which is to be observed on the above dates in all the polytechnics in Nigeria. Students are having mixed reactions towards the postponement. while some see it as time to prepare more for the examinations, others have used the opportunity to travel. Majority however who have been burned out by the stress of the examinations are irate as they cannot wait for the exams to finish so that they can rest. Whatever your reaction, note that this is just two days break and the exams will continue as scheduled. The reason for shifting the postponed exams to the end is to avoid disruption of the time table.
